Does age and start of Ponseti treatment affect the functional outcome in club foot: A comparative study

Background: Idiopathic clubfoot is one of the most common and complex congenital deformities which are difficult to correct. Aims Objectives: The present study was designed assess effectiveness results Ponseti method’s early use in treatment idiopathic talipes equinovarus (CTEV). Materials Methods: Seventy-six feet 50 patients CTEV during period May 2019–May 2020 were studied. All cases treated by technique. Results: mean presentation 2.77 months. initial score time 4.07, last follow-up 0.13. We observed that 63 (82.89%) out 76 required a percutaneous TA tenotomy along plaster casting correct equines deformity. total number casts 6.4. duration from 1st cast for equinus correction 8.4 weeks. About 94% had good outcome evaluated on basis score. association (weeks) has P=0.002 found be significant. Conclusion: technique very safe, efficient, acceptable economical gives excellent conservative avoid surgical intervention if protocol followed as prescribed. If patient higher presentation, it requires longer more compared younger children presentation.
